Contacts ➤ Opt Outs

Managing Opt Outs is a critical function for any organization. The Prompt.io platform offers robust functionality and features for managing opt outs.

Types of Opt Outs:

  • Carrier Opt Out
A Carrier Opt Out occurs when a contact replies with a carrier keyword such as STOP or UNSUBSCRIBE. An opt out of this type is irreversible by the platform and must be fully respected. The contact is the only one that can reverse a carrier keyword opt out through use of the START or SUBSCRIBE keywords.

  • Team Member Opt Out
A team member can opt out a contact through use of a Library action or other mechanism. This typically happens when a contact requests to be removed from texting, but hasn't texted a carrier opt out keyword. "Please take me off your list!" is a valid request to be opted out that may lead a team member to opt out the contact.

  • API Opt Out
The Prompt.io API gives the ability to opt out a contact.

  • Contact List Action
The Prompt.io API gives the power to opt out all contacts on a contact list.
