Understanding Message Delivery Delays

At times, your organization may experience delays in delivery of messages. We see this happen most often when volumes are spiking at carriers -- Giving Tuesday, U.S. General Elections, Black Friday, etc.

Messages get "queued" at the carrier level -- AT&T, Verizon, etc. all have maximum thresholds of messages they can ship through their pipes to end recipients. This can result in a delivery delay. Most often, we've seen delays of 15-30 minutes. In rare circumstances, delivery delays of an hour or more have occurred.

The Prompt.io carrier relations team monitors for these delays. We will do our best to inform you when carrier delays are happening.

Our Status Page will keep you informed when carrier delays are detected and resolved. Please subscribe.
